Extended Description
I have been attempting to construct new pre-Loch Ness instruction counts
for the APEX benchmarks, using "perf stat". In doing so, I came
across an oddity which I can not yet explain.
cd sac/apex/iotan
sac2c-d iotan.sac -doawlf -nowlf -O3
executes roughly 178E6 instructions, and generates
one WL for the test, which is "sum(iota(N))".
sac2c-p iotan.sac -doawlf -nowlf -O3
executes roughly 601E6 instructions,
and generates two WLs!
Compiling with "-O3" only executes
about 178E6 with both compilers, and
one WL each.
